OUT OF THE BLUE RADIO

Starting JULY 1st, 2002 23.30 - 00.00 London Time.

For the next year I will be running a daily radio programme for RESONANCE FM called OUT OF THE BLUE RADIO. It will be broadcast between 23.30-00.00 Greenwich Meantime and also via www.resonancefm.com. It will consist of an unedited real-time recording of that same half hour - as heard through somebody’s ears somewhere in the world: a daily hole in space and time. All time zones will be covered and as many geographical locations as possible. The ears will belong to a lot of people doing a lot of different things. Be somewhere - someone - else for 30 minutes every day. Most windows will be commissioned, but there is room for more, so anyone wishing to participate, please contact me at cc@megacorp.u-net.com.

Programme Details

Daily from JULY 1st, 23.30 - 00.00 London Time.

Each programme will consist of an unedited real-time recording of this slice of the day as heard through one person's ears somewhere on the planet. All the recordings will be made in real time and not edited. All clock zones will be covered and as many geographical locations as possible.

These broadcasts are not intended to be approached as conventional listening radio but more in the way of an open window. What emerges may just colour the air while you get on with whatever you're doing, or you might douse the light, turn up the volume and lean right out into the soundscape. That's not to guarantee a thrill since, while some of the ears on loan will go out of their way to entertain you and seek the strange or novel, others will not; and their half hours may seem, if listened to for novelty or action, disappointingly indirect or uneventful. On the other hand, these are the very sounds we habitually ignore...

Different participants, meanwhile, have interpreted their recording brief in very different ways.

While most of the windows have been commissioned, there is still room for more. Anyone wishing to participate, please contact me at cc@megacorp.u-net.com.

Advance programme details.

(Many programmes are binaural, and particularly suited for headphone listening.)
(Sundays are a time holiday for recordings outside time parameters)
